„Have courage to explore unusual ideas.” Interview with LEM Prize 2024 recipient Dr Tobias Dornheim.

Stanisław Lem as a writer tried to predict the future. Thanks to science, this future is being created now. The LEM Prize awards aim to reward young researchers that drive progress and our knowledge of the world forward. This year, the 100,000 PLN award was given to Dr Tobias Dornheim.
An international team of experts recognized his work on the project „Model-free diagnostics of extreme states of matter in the imaginary time”, dedicated to the study of warm dense matter and high energy density physics. In a conversation with Krzysztof Słocki Dr Dornheim described his feelings after receiving the award, what motivates him, and what advice he would give to young researchers just starting their scientific careers.
What really keeps me up at night is to understand quantum mechanics at extreme conditions. I care about this deeply and it motivates me a lot.– says Dr Tobias Dornheim
